Manly Beach 2006
Just before 6am, on Saturday August the 2nd, approximately 100 people
dressed in black suits waded into the ocean, at Sydney's Manly Beach.
With their backs to the glorious sunrise, they stood in knee deep water reading newspapers.
Participants included lawyers, bankers, politicians, cleaners...
even my Sydney dealer Trevor Harvey, waded in to the surf in the name of art!
This surreal human sculpture I called 'The First Edition'.
It was my artistic reaction to the unbalanced coverage of 'doom & gloom' issues by the media.
I hoped the coverage of my (good news) event would restore some balance.
Special thanks to the Sydney Daily Telegraph newspaper!
